Aviation STEM Club Series: Hands-on Maintenance

Sandhills Fliers invites students in grades 6-12 to take part in an exciting Aviation STEM Club series this spring, blending hands-on learning with real-world aviation experiences. Each session runs from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Moore County Airport and includes dinner, a guest speaker, and an interactive STEM activity.
The series kicks off on February 20th with Hands-on Maintenance, where students get an up-close look at aircraft care and what it takes to keep planes flying safely. On March 20th, participants put their problem-solving skills to the test during an Engineering Tournament focused on aviation challenges. April 17th explores Weather & Wind, helping students understand how atmospheric conditions impact flight and pilot decision-making. The final session on May 15th wraps up with Myth Busting & Spaghetti, a fun, creative engineering activity that challenges common assumptions while building and testing designs.
STEM, aviation, and hands-on fun come together in this engaging spring program. The cost is $25 for each club. Registration is open now. For more information, call 910-246-0349 or follow the QR code on the included flyer.
