Last week I was brought to tears when attending the Carolina Philharmonic's "Encore! Kids" created by David Michael Wolff. It was a concert presented to all the K-2nd Graders in Moore County, It was an auditorium that was filled with kids that were having a blast singing as one with songs taught in their music classes (backed by the Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra); trivia questions on large screens that brought the kids to a roar when the answers popped up; and the silence and attention that was given by all when the story and symphony piece "Peter and the Wolf" was provided to them. It ended with a parade of musicians around the auditorium with the excitement of Mexican Hat Dance music coming from everywhere. And sent home with a student workbook for each one. All I can say is that these children experienced an afternoon that was filled with the joy of music that many people rarely experience in their lifetime, and Maestro Wolff provided it to our Moore County children. Bravo to everyone who organized this program and to the Carolina Philharmonic for providing this blessing to all those children.
